How does Agilent BLER operate, why does this affect 8PSK
measurements?
• 3. To generate a measurable uplink, the mobile station is polled
every block (every block is default - poll rate is user settable) on
the demodulating timeslot. This causes the mobile station to
transmit on the downlink TBF PACCH logical channel a "Packet
Downlink Acknowledged/Not Acknowledged" message that
contains the BLER information.
• BLER connection type was very helpful for GPRS mobiles which
did not support ETSI A or B test modes. It can still be used for
EGPRS, BUT the ACK/NACK’s are always transmitted in GMSK.
• BLER can therefore be used for 8PSK demod, BLER tests and
GMSK transmitter measurements, but NOT 8PSK Tx
Measurements.
